"Attorneys Find Work, Fulfillment at Burning Man"

Woo-hoo, lawyers doing their thing at this crazy show:

"Over the weekend, mediator Ron Kelly planned to put on his full-length white linen suit and his huge green hat -- 'three feet in diameter' -- and set up his booth in the desert, so he could do what he describes as some of his most interesting work.

"For the past six years or so, Kelly has made for the Black Rock Desert of Nevada to join the annual Burning Man festival, an eight-day celebration of artistic and cultural fancy that has in the past drawn up to 25,000 participants.

"The hat is quite functional.

"'The weather out there is just preposterously abusive,' Kelly said. The heat hits 110 degrees, and dust storm winds can whip at up to 70 miles per hour.

"It makes people a little crazy."

"Game of 'Rock, Paper, Scissors' Ordered to Settle Dispute"

Now this is both funny & smart news!

"A federal judge, miffed at the inability of opposing attorneys to agree on even the slightest details of a lawsuit, ordered them to settle their latest dispute with a game of 'rock, paper, scissors.'"

"The argument was over a location to take the sworn statement of a witness in an insurance lawsuit.

"In an order signed Tuesday, U.S. District Judge Gregory Presnell scolded both sides and ordered them to meet at a neutral location at 4 p.m. June 30 to play a round of the hand-gesture game often used to settle childhood disputes. If they can't agree on the neutral location, he said, they'll play on the steps of the federal courthouse."
